Merovingia Francia, National Series, AV Tremissis, uncertain legend with block lettering and recumbent Ss, crude diademed and draped bust right, with square drapery, legend uncertain, rev. cross in inner circle, legend around, 1.39g (SCBI 69, 1093 this coin; cf. Belfort 2845/-), a delightful and curious rendering, a pleasingly good very fine

The obverse of this tremissis is apparently inspired by Belfort 2845 (attributed to Moyenvic [Moselle]). However the reverse resembles certain tremisses from the middle Rhine area, rendering the emission site for this coin uncertain.
