Merovingia Francia, Pseudo-Imperial (c. 600-675), AV Tremissis, VICT M VCRAO, diademed and draped bust right, large eye, rev. VICTORIA VICVTOR, Victory advancing right, head left, with cross and wreath, single wing behind, star in right field, 1.14g, 270° (SCBI 69, 1075 this coin; Belfort 5285; CMM 05234), slightly off-struck to reverse and traces of double-striking to obverse and other minor superficial marks from soil extraction, otherwise an imposing portrait piece, good very fine

This and the following lots are representative of the large corpus of 'Pseudo-Imperial' Tremisses struck under Frankish rule. A precise geographical attribution has not yet been established, but it is generally assumed that they were produced in eastern and central parts of the realm.
