1898 (8 Dec.) opened-out envelope addressed to a private in the Island Guard, Wei Hai Wei bearing G.B. 1881 1d. lilac tied by Plymouth duplex, the reverse with Singapore to Hong Kong Marine Sorter (15.1) and Shanghai Dollar dater; readdressed to Peking with 2c. red added on the reverse, cancelled by the Cornabie & Co circular handstamp and part Tientsin Dollar dater in bright blue (21.2) with (Customs) Peking (22.2) datestamp. A very good cover with a lot of character and pays the 1d. soldiers rate from the U.K.
