1896 (Aug.) envelope addressed to S.M.S. 'Kaiser' stationed in Hakodate bearing pair of 1c. red, one cancelled by Yokohama c.d.s. (20.8). This letter was posted from the German hospital ship in Yokohama; however, the Chinese stamps were not accepted and postage due handstamps applied, the reverse Hakodate arrival c.d.s. (26.8); there are a couple of small faults which do not detract from this highly unusual and interesting cover
