1894 (5 Sept.) envelope to England “Via San Francisco” from the U.S. Consulate in Foochow, carried to Yokohama where 5s. Koban is tied by Yokohama c.d.s. and with Watford arrival (3.11). Refused and returned to sender with further Watford c.d.s. (6.11), London Returned Letter Office (7.11) along with “5d” postage due handstamp, Yokohama with circular Yokohama tax handstamp with manuscript “25 ctm” (plus Officially Sealed label) and Shanghai Local Post c.d.s. (24.5) in bluish.
