Opening of Ichang Post Office
1895 (1 Jan.) opened-out envelope to London bearing, on the reverse, Chungking third issue 2ca. rose-red (with top margin) tied by a good strike of the Ichang oblong datestamp in red, with handstruck signature of Joseph Olsen in red (the postmaster in Ichang), Hong Kong (28.1) and London W.C. (4.3) c.d.s.; the address side with further Ichang datestamp and Hong Kong 10c. purple on red tied by British Post Office Shanghai c.d.s. (24.1). The cover with a repaired tear, mostly along the fold. An attractive and rare international cover used during the Ichang Agency period and is possibly the only such example

Note that the date appears to show a smudged second numeral, however, this is typical of the 1st January dates
