Chungking
1894 Third Issue
Covers
1895 (May) large envelope registered to Shanghai bearing 24ca. yellowish green cancelled by circular "chungking/post office" handstamp in mauve with a second strike alongside, used in combination with Ichang 1895 ½ca. block of eight and pair cancelled by circular "ichang/post office" handstamp in rosy mauve, the reverse with Hankow Local Post c.d.s. (27.5) in blue, an extremely faint Shanghai Local Post c.d.s. (30.5) in blue and Shanghai postman's pencil markings. There are a couple of vertical bends and the block of ½ca. just overlaps the edge of the envelope. A stunning and very important combination cover. It is thought that there are only three such registered combination covers
