U.S.A.: Southern Life Insurance and Trust Company of Florida, 5% Loan, 1839, bond for $1000 or £225, #291, guaranteed by the Territory and handsigned by the governor R.K. McCall, attractive scrollwork at sides, large format, black, with coupons. Interest was payable in London. Only 400 issued. The company underwrote various insurances but operated mainly as a bank and also issued notes in the Territory. These bonds form part of the repudiated debt of the State of Florida. GVF and scarce early piece.
