(x) U.S.A.: Beethoven Piano Organ Company, New Jersey, Mortgage bond for $1000, 1886, #58 of ONLY 60 issued, signed by James W. Thompson as president, vignette of large factory with organ and piano at either side, red and black, all coupons removed. James Walter Thompson, 1847 - 1928, founder of the J Walter Thompson advertising agency. Commodore of New York Yacht Club. Built the Cranford Opera House in New Jersey for his wife which would explain his presidency of this company. His company incorporated in 1896, opening a London office in 1899. He sold out in 1916 to several of the partners. VF and rare.
