Great Britain: Singer & Company Ltd., 7/6d preference shares, 190[3], #882, small vignette of Coventry in scrollwork, mauve. Singer started making cycles in 1874 and then motor cycles & motor cars from 1901. Acquired by Rootes in the 1950's. Together with ordinary and preference share certificates of Harper Bean Limited, both 19[20], black and blue respectively. The Harper Bean group was formed to acquire large shareholdings in A Harper Sons & Bean Ltd., Vulcan Motor & Engineering, Swift of Coventry and Hadfields Limited of Sheffield among others. Failed in 1921 during the general recession but the individual component companies continued. Generally VF (3).
