Great Britain: Herne Bay Pier Co., certificate for one share, 183[2], #235, scrollwork at left, black printing, on vellum, green paper and wax seal at left. Designed by Thomas Telford, this 3,613 foot structure was opened in 1832, demolished in 1870. Replaced by a shorter structure in 1873. It was the first pier in Herne Bay to handle the many paddle steamers bringing tourists to the coast from London. VF.
