Great Britain: Channel Tunnel Company Limited, 4 shilling shares, 19[29], #1726, scrollwork at left, black. The idea of a tunnel connecting England and France has been discussed since 1802 but has generally been abandoned as a threat to national security. This company was formed in the 1870's. The official Anglo-French Protocol was signed in 1876 and work was carried out on both sides of the Channel but abandoned after growing pressure. These early works were partly used by the current TML project. GVF and rare.
