Cyprus: The Cyprus Company Limited, First Debenture for £[400], #45, large format, black. Set up by John William Williamson and Charles Christian in 1891 to operate Government contracts including a mine at Limni, near Polis and the eatern Mesaoria irrigation works. The founders were also heavily involved in the excavations being undertaken on the island by the British Museum, The company folded in 1897. AVF and rare, first time seen at auction.
