Greece, International Exhibition, Athens, 1903, gilt AE Presentation Medal to Prime Minister and President of Greece Alexander Zaïmis, by Hond of Paris, Athena enthroned before a distant Acropolis, figures of Art, Learning, Trade and Industry to either side, rev. olive spray, named in tablet, 60mm., stamped BRONZE on lower edge, a few light surface marks to edge, otherwise extremely fine and of historical interest

Alexander Zaïmis (1855-1936), was a Greek statesman, and sometime Director of the National Bank of Greece. He served as Prime Minister of Greece on several occasions between 1897 and 1928 with interruptions, and latterly President of Greece between 1929-1935. He assisted with the restoration of the Royal Family to Greece, but he himself died in exile in Vienna in 1936.
