Great Britain: Alton & Co. Ltd., Wardwick Brewery, Derby, £1 cumulative preference shares, 19[53], #1798, ornate border with beer barrel at left, blue, printed by Waterlow & Sons, Ltd. This company formed in 1899 to acquire a former company of the same name. Acquired by Strettons Derby Brewery Ltd. and run as a subsidairy. Although brewing ceased in 1922 it still managed and leased its 155 public houses. VF and scarce.
