France: Société d'Exploitation du Café-Concert de la Scala, 1000 franc share, 1909, #34, of only 250 issued, ornate border, mauve, yellow underprint, with coupons. Paris Theatre/Music hall built in 1874 on the site of an earlier building. Successful, especially until WWI, seeing many stars performing on stage. Converted to a cinema in 1935. In 1999 it was purchased by a religious cult who wanted it as a meeting place. Planning was refused and the building lay dormant for 16 years then in 2016 irt was purchased by 2 theatre producers who have turned into a 550 seta moduar theatre again. A few edge nicks, otherwise VF and rare.
