1848 (30 June) entire letter from Salem "care of E.P. Cohen Esq. Baltimore" to Bethany, Mandeville Post Office, showing "paid" alongside "12" (deleted) USA postage and charged "10" formed of 4d. half Ship Letter charge plus 6d. inland postage and showing "Savanna La Mar/ship letter" SL8 handstamp, Savannah La Mar (7.10) and Mandeville (10.10) datestamps on reverse. SL2 and exceptionally rare being in use for only one month according to Proud though this example predates his known month of use. Photo
