1850-71 selection of covers (13) including c.1850 OHMS Colonial Office entire to Bernhard Schwickard at Pietermaritzburg, 1861 large part entire from Sterk-Spruit bearing 3d. cancelled "27", 1862 unstamped entire from Pietermaritzburg to "C Barnes", 1862 large part entire to the Colonial Secretary at Pietermaritzburg bearing 3d. with indistinct numeral cancellation, front (damaged) franked at 2d. and huge undated envelope franked at 4d. (ex Hart) both by "Book Post" to Durban and Pietermaritzburg respectively, and ten later items franked at 1d. (four with Postage/Postage values) or 2d. (article on the short-lived 2d. rate); also piece bearing 6d. grey (4); condition mixed though an interesting group
