1862 (6 Oct.) envelope (no flap) from Durban to Yorkshire, bearing 6d. grey cancelled with datestamp with a further strike alongside, rated "4" credited to the U.K. alongside "paid/devonport/cape packet" P5 and London datestamps, all overlapping, carried on the Waldenstein which was wrecked and the mail taken overland from Somerset West to Cape Town and transferred to the Athens on her eleventh return voyage; accompanied by 1863 (Jan.) piece from Pietermaritzburg bearing 6d. grey tied by Paid Devonport Cape Packet datestamp and carried on the L'Imperatice Eugenie used for taking mails only as far as Port Elizabeth on an ad hoc basis following the wreck of the Waldenstein.
