1877 (27 Feb.) neat envelope, part of the Trouette correspondence to France bearing 1d. green (2) with diagonal bisect and 1873 6d. orange-vermilion cancelled by indistinct strikes of Sauters "C" c.d.s., with "1/0½" rate mark in red crayon, London Paid transit (17.3), other transit and arrival datestamps to reverse; as with another cover from this correspondence, the upper left portion of the envelope with the stamps has been removed and then carefully replaced, nevertheless a magnificent and extremely rare cove. Note: This is one of three bisect covers from outlying parish post offices to France and three covers to France from St. George's. All six covers credit Great Britain 1/0½, regardless of whether there was enough postage to cover this amount.
