Note: Postal contractors were private concerns that picked up and delivered mails between post offices on a regular schedule. Postal contractors were obligated to collect the mail from intermediate post offices and deliver it to those on the main route. They also had to provide a suitable post cart, driver, guard and waterproof mail bags. Passenger were also carried. The service existed between 1830 and 1887.
