1857 entire letter from Chumie Post (docketed), British Kaffraria, to London, headed "From No 2822 Co Segt S. Doyle 45 Regiment", countersigned by Commanding Officer, bearing 1855 deeply blued paper 1d. (touched or just-into in places) clearly tied by triangular obliterator, showing "soldiers & seamans letter/by ship" handstamp with, on reverse, Grahams Town (2.6), Cape Town (6.6) and arrival (6.8) datestamps in red; the entire with some small age spots.
