1855 entire letters (2) from the same correspondence to Ireland, comprising (1 Aug.) from Vryburg headed "From No 2761 Pte Richard Ryan 2nd Batt 60th Rifles", countersigned by Commanding Officer, showing red ink "1" and handstruck "2" with Grahamstown transit d.s. on reverse, the second (19 Nov.) similarly headed and countersigned, bearing 1853 lightly blued 1d. (cut-into in places) clearly tied by triangular obliterator, showing handstruck "2" with, on reverse, Grahamstown (27.11), Cape Town (1.2) and arrival datestamps.
