1844 (28 Jan.) entire letter from Darrington to Launceston, Tasmania, carried by the “Mary Sharp” rated “1/-“ (deleted) and “5”, showing London Paid and oval “paid ship letter/london” datestamps in red (30.1) with, on reverse, Pontefract and Hobart (17.6) datestamps; the face panel with some staining at right. Rare, only a handful of covers to Tasmania are recorded

Note: The “Mary Sharp” carried eight bags of mail. She left Gravesend on 1 February, called at Cape of Good Hope, and reached Sydney on 11 June, 131 days passage
