1959 Opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway 5c. with margin at right, error centre inverted, unmounted mint; some very light gum ageing. A good example of this error. E. Diena Certificate (1985). S.G. 513a, £9,000

Note: In August 1959 an errand boy was sent to a post office in Winnipeg to purchase thirty 5c. stamps. On his return three were affixed to letters at which point it was noticed that the central design was upside down. A partial sheet of 28 was discovered at Picton, Ontario a few days later and then two complete panes of 50 were discovered in post office stocks and returned to postal headquarters in Ottawa. The discovery of these errors sent collectors to their local post offices. However no more were discovered. In total, 162 are known to have survived.
