1942 envelope from Morpeth, marked “Prisoners of War Post”, franked at 2½d. and partly obscured by Censor label, marked “Base Hosp” and “OVL 3/11/42” in blue crayon indicating he had been sent to Thailand; 1942 (30 June) envelope from Kent sent c/o Prisoners of War Information Bureau, Tokyo, marked “B.H” (Beds & Herts) and “OVL/L 6-11-42” indicating he had been sent to the Burma-Thailand Railway with Q Party; and 1942 (16 Aug.) envelope from Halifax, marked “Prisoner of War Post”, showing manuscript “OVL 26.6.42” indicating he had been sent to Thailand, “II” for 2 Group (erased), “CH” for Changi (erased) and “NP” for Nong Pladuck (erased), plus Censor seal of Matsushita applied in Thailand
