Departmental and Official Stamps
S.G. (Surveyor General)
In black on rouletted 2d. orange-red, overprint "S.C." instead of "S.G.", neatly cancelled by Adelaide c.d.s. (7.10.69), roulettes or traces thereof on all sides, fine. Rare with about five examples known. Photo
Note: For many years, the stamps overprinted "S.C." in blue have been acknowledged as being from the Supreme Court. Examples of the "S.C." overprint in black are very scarce and new evidence confirms that there was an error in the overprinting forme of "S.G." (Surveyor General). The discovery of a pair overprinted "S.C. S.G." in black now validate that "S.C." in black is an overprinting error for the Surveyor General's Department.
