Auction: 20030 - The Gary Diffen Collection of Australian Colonies Errors Part 1 - New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia - conducted behind closed doors
Lot: 297

(x) South Australia
1876-1904 Watermark Crown over SA (Close)
Perf. 10x11½-12½
1d. blue-green horizontal pair imperforate between, lightly cancelled; pressed crease and a fraction soiled otherwise fine. The only example recorded and unlisted by Stanley Gibbons. R.P.S. Certificate (1965). S.G. 169a. Photo

Note: The "Australian Stamp Monthly" published the first report of this error in June 1947. The Stanley Gibbons catalogue list an imperforate between pair at SG 161a, which is almost certainly this pair. The watermark differences between Type 10 and 13 have confused the listing. No examples of SG 161a can be traced.
