Note: The discovery of this error first came to the notice of collectors when this stamp was auctioned by Harmer Rooke in the Steinway sale of 1939. It was bought by the London dealer Tommy Allen who had it certified at the RPS in 1940. It was listed in the 1995 Stanley Gibbons catalogue.
