1882-97 perf 12x10 6d. mauve, a horizontal pair imperforate between, both with sunburst cancellation, fine. S.G. 235cb, £2750. Photo
Note: The discovery of this error was announced in the "Australian Stamp Journal" in July 1911 when a bank correspondence was sold to Sydney stamp dealer, Fred Hagen, yielding a used vertical block comprising nine pairs imperforate between. This piece was split to provide a block of four in the Steinway collection (which is believed to have been split since the sale in 1939) and a block of six in the H.L. White collection in the State Library of New South Wales. Six pairs are available to collectors of which one is damaged.
