Note: This error was well known to colonial collectors in the late 1870s before publication in "The Philatelic Record" in May 1890. It is one of the most famous errors of New South Wales. Whilst over twenty examples of this error are recorded, nearly all of the exhibit defects and faults. This is one of the finest examples known.
