Alexander Farnese
1580 (29 July) letter in French signed "Alexandre" to Valentin de Pardieu detailing a deal struck with Welsh soldier Thomas Morgan to regain control of areas held by Protestant rebels resisting Spanish rule in Spanish Netherlands. Farnese offers an exchange in which Charles V would regain "Nieuport, Bruges or Dunkirk, in exchange for a certain fee or pension which might be agreed with him [Morgan]", further promising "an annual pension of six thousand florins for the duration of his natural life". Document complete with address panel and in good condition.
This document is a good example of Farnese's financial tactics in regaining land for his maternal Grandfather, Charles V
