Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna
1924 two page ALS by Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna (1882-1960), younger sister of Tsar Nicholas II, written in French to her former tutor Thormeyr (in Switzerland) from Hvidore, Copenhagen; the home jointly owned by her mother the Dowager Empress and Queen Alexandra.
Olga writes of times long gone, her sister Xenia's family and financial worries in London, and mentions Princess Irina, her niece who was married to Prince Felix Youssoupoff (the assassin of Rasputin), her sons with her second husband, as "life gets on my nerves and it annoys me to have to go on walks with Mummy". The Dowager Empress lived in exile in Denmark, visiting her sister Queen Alexandra in England occasionally, and never accepting the fate of the Imperial Family who were murdered in July 1918. A poignant letter.
