Lord George Gordon Byron
1806 piece cut from original hand-written draft manuscript for the poem "Oscar of Alvar" showing on one side, stanza 19, and on the other, stanza 22. Stanza 19 "While Allan's soul belied his form, / Unworthy with such charms to [corrected from 'Allan, that such a soul should'] dwell, / Bright on the lightning's of the Storm, / Like that his deadly vengeance fell,"; Stanza 22 "Hark to [corrected from 'how'] to the Pibroch's pleasing [corrected from 'pleasant'] note, / Hark to the swelling [corrected] nuptial Song, / In joyous strains the voices float, / And still the choral [added] Peal (?) prolong.". Together with note from Victorian collector verifying the verses as being "written by Ld. Byron at Southwell in 1806". An extraordinary item.
