1799 (16 December) signed appointment of "Dixon Brown" to the position of "First Lieutenant of a Company" in Newcastle to "serve without Pay, for the Protection thereof ... but not to take Rank in Our Army..". Signed "George R" clearly. Document pasted to album page but with fine wafer seal and with 7/6d. embossed revenue.
