(x) Falkland Islands
The Famous "H.M.S. Glasgow" Error
1964 Battle of the Falklands, 6d. black and light blue, error H.M.S. Glasgow, fresh and lightly mounted mint; one of the great rarities of the Elizabethan era, only seventeen examples recorded. S.G. 216a, £40,000

Note:
In December 1964 the Falkland Islands issued a set of four stamps to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the naval battle in the South Atlantic. Each of the three low values depicted a Royal Navy ship involved in the action. Over four years later a Canadian collector reported finding a 6d. stamp with the wrong ship, 'H.M.S. Glasgow' instead of 'H.M.S. Kent'. It has since been determined that one sheet of sixty was printed in error and sent to the U.S.A., there are seventeen known examples of this striking error.
