1807 (13 Feb.), entire letter from Philadelphia to Leeds, sent unpaid by Private Ship, endorsed "Latona" (deleted) and sent via the ship "Abigail", with very fine double oval "Ship Letter/(Crown)/hull" (Robertson S.3) and rated "1/10" in manuscript; the entire has been strengthened by archival tape along some internal folds. A major maritime rarity and the finer of the two recorded examples of the Ship Letter/Hull marking. Photo
