Charles I (1625-49), Shilling, a contemporary forgery from false dies, struck in fine silver, in the style of Group E, type 4.2, Tower, 3.83g, 1h, m.m. anchor [?] flukes inward facing to right, carolvs dg mag brit fr et hib rex, crude portrait left, large xii behind, rev. •(m.m.)• chrisio • avspice •• regno, square-topped shield over cross moline (Brooker –; cf. Besly, pl. 8, no. 5 ~ for portrait type; cf. N.2228; cf. S.2794), small flan split at 11 o'clock, otherwise a bold very fine, an excellent example of this curious imitation
