Charles I (1625-49), Halfcrowns, contemporary forgeries, struck with silver layering over copper cores, 'Tower' (6), in the style of Group III, type 3a3 (under Parliament), m.m. (r), 12,34g, 5h, colon stops, tricolon after rex, rev. no stops and no spacing between avspice and regno; another, similar, 13.69g, 7h, m.m. eye, no stops by mintmark, colon stops in legends, except after carolvs where single, and after hib.', the flan with large test cut through flan evidently performed by a suspecting party, the silver sheeting blistering or flaked in parts, otherwise fair to fine; also, in the style of Group IV, 8.17g, 12h, m.m. triangle-in-circle, [....]hib.' rex (m.m.)•; another, 11.69g, 8h, m.m. sun; another, 11.09g, 12h, m.m. sun, stops by mintmark (both sides), no silvering survives, good, the flan slightly furled; a third coin, 12.98g, 7h, m.m. sun, struck in brass; lastly, in style of Group V, 12.43g, 10h, m.m. sceptre, struck in brass (cf. S.2880), most clipped small, revealing subterfuge, others with surface flaking or verdigris, generally fair to about fine, an academically most interesting lot (7)
