China, Sir Robert Hotung (Hong Kong), 61st Birthday Medal 1922, a superbly detailed gilt heart-shaped Medal, with Chinese characters offering description of the award and his family lineage, very fine and most scarce

Robert Hotung was born 'Robert Ho Tung Bosman' in 1862 and was the wealthiest man in Hong Kong by the turn of the century. Away from his business he was highly philanthropic and also financed the majority of the revolutions which led to the establishment of the Chinese Republic in 1912. Known as 'the Grand Old Man of Hong Kong', he died on 26 April 1956.

Medal accompanied by descriptive translation of characters upon both faces of this award.
