Victory Medal 1914-19 (Lieut. H. M. Marshall.), very fine
Herbert Marshall Marshall was born in 1876 and was living at South Camp, Aldershot in 1881. His father James was born on St Helena so it seems almost certain they were a military family. Marshall was initiated into the Tuscan Lodge, Shanghai on 18 March 1908 and was employed by the Asiatic Petroleum (North China) Company at Chungking and Shaghai. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the Chinese Labour Corps, he served in France from 23 September 1917 and was advanced Lieutenant in the Labour Corps, resigning his commission on 10 January 1920. Marshall died whilst living at the Brooke House Hotel, London on 13 February 1944; sold with copied MIC and research.
