(x) Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 2 clasps, Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith (287824 Sto: W. C. Arnell, H:M:S: Terrible), edge bruising and contact marks, nearly very fine

William George Arnell was born at Sidlesham, Sussex on 1 June 1878 and joined the Royal Navy on 1 March 1898. He joined H.M.S. Terrible on 18 December 1898 and served with her Naval Brigade during the Boer War and left her books on 24 October 1902. He served aboard Agincourt from 4 August 1914-30 January 1919, which would have seen him with her for the Battle of Jutland, when she fired 144 12" shells and 111 6" shells. Arnell's final seagoing appointment was aboard Victoria and Albert from 17 June 1919-29 February 1924.
