John Wesley McClean was from Kildare, Ireland and was a clerk upon his enlistment in the Grenadier Guards on 17 November 1896, having previously served 2 months in the Leinster Regiment and 167 days in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers. Having served in the Egypt and Sudan from 19 July-7 October 1898, he was medically discharged unfit on 13 January 1899; sold with copied Service Record and roll extract.
