Army of India 1799-1826, 1 clasp, Bhurtpoor (J. Cross, 14th Foot.), very fine

John Cross, a native of North Crawley, Buckinghamshire, enlisted in the 14th (Buckinghamshire) Regiment of Foot on 19 October 1813. He served with the Regiment at Waterloo and would have most likely worn his Medal - like many of his comrades - at the storming of Bhurtpore; indeed, it is recorded that the Commanding Officer of the 14th specifically ordered those Waterloo veterans in the battalion to form the leading ranks of the assault column; sold with copied service record.
