A wooden snuff/curio box made from H.M.S. Gibraltar
Shaped wooden box of circular form, the lid with old paper insert with ink inscription reading 'Gibrater. [sic] 80 guns. Built by the Spaniards in the island of Cuba, and launched 1757 by the name of Phoenix; captured by Sir George Romney. Commanded by Admiral de Langara. The Admiral's flag was presented to His Majesty George III by his son Prince Wm Henry then a Midshipman in the Fleet. She was taken to pieces in Pembroke Yard 1836.', old chip in lid, otherwise generally good condition
