A Great War M.C. group of five awarded to Battery Sergeant-Major W. Hall, Royal Artillery

Military Cross, G.V.R., unnamed as issued; 1914 Star, with clasp (23433 Cpl. W. Hall. R.G.A.); British War and Victory Medals, with M.I.D. oak leaves (23433 W. O. Cl. 2. W. Hall. R.A.); Army L.S. & G.C., G.V.R. (1402614 W. O. Cl. II. W. Hall. R.A.), good very fine, housed in an old glazed frame for display with three unit Badges, besides portrait photograph and silk postcard (5)

William Hall was born in 1886 at St Michaels, Dublin and was serving in the 5th (Militia) Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers upon his enlistment on 12 September 1905. He served with 5th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery in France from 25 September 1914 and was promoted to Battery Quartermaster-Sergeant and posted to 81st Siege Battery on 25 March 1916, becoming Battery Sergeant-Major on 15 May 1917 with B.S.M. Brett being commissioned. Besides earning the M.C., Hall was twice mentioned (London Gazette 22 June 1915 & 13 June 1916, refer) and wounded in action on 12 November 1917 before War's end. Adding the L.S. & G.C. to his laurels and an Acting Regimental Sergeant-Major, Hall retired in 1931; sold with copied service record.
