(x) An 'Operation Herrick' M.I.D. group of five awarded to Corporal A. Lewis, 'G' Company, Special Forces Support Group and Parachute Regiment, whose award appears to have been for the epic Siege of Kabul in September 2011

Adam Lewis joined the 1st Battalion, Parachute Regiment in 2001, having enlisted at Irvine on 21 June 2001. He was awarded his Parachute Wings on 10 May 2002. He was awarded his 'mention' for his part in the epic six hour battle that erupted on 14 September 2011. The multi-phase attack begun with a car bomb outside the British Council building, Kabul, followed by an attack on foot. The SFSG was called to the quick reaction force which attended the battle, the operational honours list awarding a Conspicuous Gallantry Cross to a fellow member of the Parachute Regiment with links to the Special Forces. Lewis was discharged on 3 September 2012 at his own request.

Sold together with an impressive original archive including:

(i) Original M.I.D. certificate.

(ii) Parachute Regiment beret, tie, besides two battle patches.

(iii) A selection of letters of congratulations. Including Major-General M. Carleton-Smith, Director Special Forces:

'Many congratulations on the splendid news of your operational award. It is thoroughly well deserved and will have been hard earned, I suspect, several times over.'

Another from Lieutenant-Colonel E. D. Sandry, CO of SFSG:

'...This richly deserved award is recognition for the bravery and professionalism you displayed during your tour and is something that you can be extremely proud of. Your actions have served to enhance the ever growing reputation of The Special Forces Support Group and were in the finest traditions of The Parachute Regiment. Whilst I am sorry that you have now left the unit I cannot think of a more fitting way for you to have ended your military career.'
