(x) The campaign group of three awarded to Warrant Officer Class 1 K. J Dale, Royal Marines, an important regimental character who saw wide-ranging active service over the course of a career which exceeded two decades

Kevin John Dale was born on 19 February 1959 at Wolverhampton and was a student upon his enlistment in the Royal Marines on 12 January 1976. Posted to 45 Commando in October 1976, he was advanced Lance-Corporal on 20 October 1978 and took a posting aboard H.M.S. Endurance - the Royal Navy ice patrol vessel which worked in the Falkland Islands and the Antarctic from 26 June-18 October 1979. Returning to 41 Commando, he was advanced Corporal on 30 November 1980 and re-joined 45 Commando in May 1981. Posted to 42 Commando in September, he served as a Section Commander of 1 Section, 1 Troop, 'K' Company during the Falklands War. They were flown behind enemy lines with 'D' Squadron, Special Air Service to take Mount Kent and thence made the famous attack on Mount Harriet on 11-12 June.

After a summer with Heron in 1985, he went to 3 Commando Brigade Air Squadron and trained as an Air Crewman from 11 September 1985. Awarded his L.S. & G.C. on 2 September 1991, Dale took his final posting at JSU Northwood and was discharged on 3 April 2000.

Major-General R. H. G. Fulton, offered the following Testimonial:

'I wish to thank you for the many years of devoted service that you have given to the Royal Marines...I particularly commend you for your operational tours of duty in Northern Ireland, the South Atlantic, Northern Iraq and Southern Turkey...I am also aware of your exemplary and innovative contribution to the post of Assistant Security Officer at Joint Support Unit Northwood where your diplomacy and innate ability to adapt to rapidly changing situations have received wide praise...As a Warrant Officer First Class and Aircrewman, you had made a special contribution to the Corps.'
