This unit saw heavy action in Burma with the 37th Indian Brigade on the Shenam front, south-east of Imphal. They proved invaluable at 'Scraggy' and 'Gibraltar' under their famous CO, Lieutenant-Colonel Marindin. Given the recipient does not appear to have earned either a General Service Medal with clasp 'S. E. Asia 1945-46' or Indian Independence Medal 1947, it is most likely he was wounded or invalided.
