I.D.S.M. London Gazette 8 February 1945. The original recommendation states:
'For outstanding coolness and devotion to duty throughout the operations (15 November 1944-15 May 1945) in the Arakan, Imphal Plain, and particularly in the Ngakyedauk Admin Box, when in charge of lines. Day after day, and on several occasions all night, he led parties on the laying and repair of lines, often under heavy mortar and shell fire, and by his unflagging enthusiasm and determination to get "through" at all costs was an inspiration to all those around him, and contributed in a high degree to the maintenance of vital communications.'
Mohamed Akbar was a Punjabi Muslim from Sogedatt, Rawalpindi.
